Content:

Text as a form of communication is the central theme of the programme. The concept of text encompasses oral, written and composite texts (containing images, music and graphics). The programme involves an analysis of how texts are constructed and the accepted norms for the creation and understanding of texts; whether they are scientific dissertations, SMS messages, novels or blogs, popular poetry, textbooks or religious texts. Historical, social and cultural situations are reflected in texts, and the programme also addresses how texts help to create, maintain and challenge such conditions. In addition, the programme includes a practical course in written and oral communication.
