Course Objectives

The course will provide students with the knowledge and tools that will enable them to problematise and examine the relation between physical movement, available facilities and administrative policies.

Course Description

This course will especially focus on:

 Movement as meaning and communication
 Movement in terms of sport, physical education and outdoor life
 Space, time and movement
 Facilities and possibilities
 Movement, embodiment and identity
 Movement, architecture and experience
 Facilities considered in both negative and creative contexts
 The structure and build of the body
 Discourse, practice and material
 Policy, planning and funding
 Building of facilities, interest and land use conflicts
 Movement, sport and gender

Learning Methods

Fifteen lectures each of four hours duration during the spring semester.
Lectures, seminars and study/field trips.

Assessment Methods

Students shall carry out an examination lecture of approximately 30 minutes duration on an assigned topic and submitted manuscript. Graded mark.
