Course Description

The aim is that the student will:

• Acquire theoretical knowledge regarding the causes of common illnesses, their incidence and clinical symptoms.
• Acquire knowledge regarding the medical treatment and consequences for the patient.
• Gain knowledge concerning changes in patterns of illness and causes of death.
• Actively contribute to the treatment and nursing of patients with acute and chronic conditions.
• Acquire knowledge in clinical pharmacology in order to be able to demonstrate responsible management of medication.
• Develop the ability to cope with acute situations in hospitals and institutions.
• Acquire theoretical knowledge regarding the importance of nutrition in the preventative care and treatment of illness.

Assessment Methods

Main course: 050NAT2 000 Medical and Natural Science Subjects. Pathology, illness theory, pharmacology and clinical nutrition. 15 ECTS

5-hour individual, written examination in Medical and Natural Science Subjects (without examination aids). Assessed with a graded mark.

Course unit: 050NAT2 ST1 Course Assignment – Medical and Natural Science Subjects: 2nd Year.

Individual, written examination related to the course unit’s topics. Assessed as pass/fail.

Course unit: 050NAT2 FAR Test in pharmacology

2-hour individual written test in pharmacology. Assessed as pass/fail.

The test must be 60% correct in order to assessed as pass.
