To give students basic knowledge regarding integration of computer hardware and software in a control system application.

Group assignment. Lectures.
Course Description
Estimation of a process model from esperiments. Analysis and design of a PID control system for the given process. Introduction to PLC programming (Simatic Step 7) and LabVIEW programming. Implementation of a control system. Development of a human-machine-interface (WinCC).
Assessment Methods
Mandatory project work in student group counts 70%; Individual, written examination counts 30% of the final grade. No study aids permitted at the written examination. Both project work and written exam must be accomplished to pass the course.
