One semester
Prerequisites
3-year BSc Engineering or equivalent
Course Objectives
The course will give the fundamental basis for the mechanisms in transport and transfer of mass, energy and momentum. It will also comprise chemical reaction kinetics. The fundamental concepts will be used for dimensioning of fluid flow apparatus, heat exchangers and reactors and mechanical dimensioning of pipes and tanks.
Learning Methods
Lectures, exercises
Course Description
Mass, energy and momentum balances. Dimension analysis. Laminar and turbulent flow. Heat transfer and radiation. Mass transfer and diffusion. Reaction rate, rate constant and reaction order. Dimensioning of fluid flow apparatus, heat exchangers and reactors.
Assessment Methods
Individual, written final examination counts 100%. No study aids permitted.
