Students will achieve knowledge about mathematical terms and formulations as well as skills in the use of mathematical models and their solutions.
Lectures and exercises. 7 of the exercises will be organized as compulsory “mathematical laboratory work”.
The course consists of the following topics :
Limits, continuity, derivative and rates of change, implicit differentiation, Newtons method, increments, differentials and linear approximation, fundamental theorem of calculus, Riemannsums and the integral, techniques of integration, applications of integrals, differential equations and mathematical models, directions fields and solution curves, separable and linear first order differential equations, Eulers method, second order differential equations with constant coefficients.
A. Maple-project (max three students per group) 40%.
B. Final, written, individual examination:
Part 1 - 30% - all written and printed material permitted.
Part 2 - 30% - all study aids permitted, including laptops with Maple.
