One semester
Prerequisites
G 1800 Mathematical methods I, with Maple
Course Objectives
This course gives an introduction to elementary linear algebra; systems of linear equations and vectors. Selected topics are particularly relevant in fields such as economics, natural science and computer science.
Learning Methods
Lectures and exercises. 7 of the exercises will be organized as compulsory “mathematical laboratory work”.
Course Description
The course focuses on systems of linear equations, matrices and determinants, vector calculations, plane and spacial geometry, Euclidean vector spaces and linear operators.
Assessment Methods
A. Maple-project (max three students per group) 40%.
B. Final, written, individual examination:
Part 1 - 30% - all written and printed material permitted.
Part 2 - 30% - all study aids permitted, including laptops with Maple.
