Norwegian
Culture Analysis I or equivalent
The course builds on Culture Analysis II. The aim of the course is to develop the student’s ability to view the contemporary world critically and to identify the distinguishing characteristics of modernity. The student will learn to understand the processes which create change in society. Abstract analytical concepts dealing with change-mechanisms, power and cultural values will also be discussed. Using these tools, the student will gain insight into the relationship between cultural diversity and cultural homogeneity.
Norwegian society and the characteristics of Norwegian culture are the integrating themes of the course. These will be analysed as one of the many forms of social organisation, adaptation and self-understanding.
