I am the Director of the MSc Programme in Industrial Ecology, and a Professor of Solid Waste Engineering and Industrial Ecology at the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, NTNU.

My engagements here are teaching courses such as Industrial Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Solid Waste Engineering, and Systems for Recycling and Loop Closing. In research I study areas such as eco-efficiency, recycling systems and producer responsibility.

I was one of the initiators of NTNU's Industrial Ecology Programme, and was appointed IndEcol's first programme leader for a six year period 1998-2004. Since 1992 I am co-editor of the Journal of Industrial Ecology (MIT Press), and elected Councillor of the International Society for Industrial Ecology (Yale University).
