I enrolled for my PhD in the Industrial Ecology Programme of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, in late 2006. This is more like a mid-career motivation to ‘go back to school’ so to say.
I come from a Mechanical Engineering background, and after a very brief stint in the teaching profession in Mumbai in the late 90s, after my post graduation in mechanical engineering from the University of Mumbai, I forayed into science/business/technology journalism and worked for a slew of magazines in India, for about 6 years, before moving over to Singapore for a Joint Masters Programme in Industrial Ecology – a Nanyang Technological University – Technical University of Munich venture. After a brief stint in Germany as a research intern at the Papiertechnische Stiftung, I now find myself in Norway!
My research project at the NTNU revolves around comparative analyses of sustainable built environment – transportation, buildings and water supply – in the developed and developing worlds, from an industrial ecology perspective.
