The objective of my thesis is to develop a framework for communicating in global value chains that combines corporate (e.g. Global Reporting Initiative) and life cycle (e.g. Life Cycle Assessment) approaches. I will use case studies in the shipping and furniture industries to exemplify value chains and examine how economic, environmental and social performance can be communicated and verified. The goal is that the framework will provide decision makers with verified information to base decisions on. My PhD is part of the corporate social responsibility project "C(S)R in Global Value Chains: a Conceptual and Operational Approach".
