The Office of International Relations at NTNU organizes an intensive course especially designed for exchange students. We are expecting more than 180 students from all over the world but with a huge majority from EU countries.

Please note that we can not guarantee a place in the language course due to the large number of applicants.

NORWEGIAN - THE REAL EUROPEAN CHALLANGE: NTNU has a long tradition with exchange students doing their thesis or project work supervised by English speaking professors. But during the last years one registers an increasing number of students who want to attend courses in Norwegian for Norwegian students. This course is an INTENSIVE course and the pace is very high. Students with a Germanic mother tongue or others with some pre-knowledge of a Scandinavian language will particularly benefit from this course and be able to participate in normal University life.

THE PROGRAMME

The programme consists of a language course with 5 hours of training a day. In addition you will work together with your fellow students work in self-study groups on different language tasks. The number of participants is strictly limited. Because of high-speed progress it is extremely important that the participants take part from the very beginning. It is not possible to take any part-time jobs during the course!

When ever possible our enthusiastic language team will stimulate the students to participate in cultural and social events in Trondheim. A small fee for the social programme will enable you to come into closer contact with your new study country.

COURSE LEVEL / DIFFICULTY

We will offer 9 different groups. Each group will have a maximum of approx. 20 students. In general all courses start at beginners - level. But we foresee courses for students with some pre-knowledge in Norwegian (only course B). Pre-knowledge is defined by having followed a 1- 2 semester language course at an institution.

SOCIAL PROGRAMME:

The Office of International Relations will prepare a social programme, which will include sightseeing, leisure activities, trips to the mountains etc. The social programme is a part of the language course.
