Forskningsgruppen for "Kunnskap, IKT og kultur"

Research on knowledge, ICT and culture

Information and communication technology (ICT) has been linked closely to major changes in society. The emergence of the so called Information Society, and particularly the development of Internet technology, has received much attention. Focus on ICT is the basis for this research group. We have worked on several projects concerned with virtual life, and how the meaning of time, place, physical distance and social belonging changes and possibly move away from their traditional meanings.

Our projects span wide from the history of the Internet to the applications of electronic music distribution on the Internet, cellular phones and other new media. Today most of the projects in this group focus on working life and knowledge in the ICT industry and other so called knowledge intensive firms. Here too ICT represents new options, e.g. for learning, managing, storing and reuse of knowledge, which always should be analyzed along the social and cultural dimensions of the knowledge and organisations.
