NTNU participates in numerous student exchange and placement programmes such as the Socrates/Erasmus programme and the Leonardo da Vinci programme. Others are operated in conjunction with other Nordic countries (NORDPLUS). In addition there are cooperative agreements/exchange agreements with universities in many countries. An overview is given in here.
Exchange students typically attend NTNU for short periods lasting between 3-12 months and return to their home university at the end of the exchange period.
ADMISSION AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Students invited by NTNU for short periods of between 3 and 12 months are enrolled at their home university and do not have to meet NTNU`s admission requirements (e.g., language proficiency). The normal language of instruction is Norwegian, however there are also many courses taught in English. Exams can always be arranged in English and in the majority of cases, textbooks are in English or alternative titles in English will be recommended. Project work can always be supervised in English.
Students have the opportunity to learn Norwegian through the intensive summer course or through one of the Norwegian classes offered throughout the semester. (See also: detailed information about these courses )
