About Bjart J. Holtsmark

My research field is mainly environmental- and resource econonomics. I am also affiliated witl the Oslo Centre for Research on Environmentally friendly Energy (CREE) . Please find links to a selection of my publications below. For a more complete list of publications, see the CV.

NOTE: There is a misprint in the recently published article in Environmental Science & Policy. It states namely on p 163 that "The DOE found that the Tesla Model S consumes on average 0.36 and 0.38 kWh/km with battery packs of 60 kWh and 85 kWh, respectively." It should have been kWh/miles here. However, the counting is correct. We have assumed that the Teslas are using 0.222 and 0.235 kWh / km, corresponding to 0.355 and 0.379 kWh / miles. For those who read the whole article, it is easy to see that we have counted correctly. Assuming that coal plants emit 1000 g CO2 / kWh (p 163), we have for example the 235g CO2 / km figure of a Tesla 85 in the coal case, see Figure 2. It can also be confusing that Figure 2 shows emissions from Leaf at 0.18 g CO2 / km in the case of coal, while the figures in the text says 0.21 g CO2 / km. The reason for this difference is that the numbers in the text refer to the 2012 model of the LEAF while Figure 2 refers to the 2013 version, which is more energy efficient.
