Research groups

Research performed at the department is organized into 10 research groups and two technology platforms, and is essentially directed toward studies on basal medical, biomedical and biological problems.

Some of the research performed has a clear anchor in clinical research and is based towards patient-related medical problems. This form of activity is mirrored by the focus that the Department has had in recent years on translational medical research.

    Biorecognition

The research group Biorecognition investigates the molecular mechanisms behind biomolecular binding and functional response in metabolic and signal transduction pathways.

  • Small images:
    Cellular Networks Group (CELLNET)

The cell-cell communication and interaction is central for the angiogenic process in both normal and pathological condition.

  • Small images:
    Cardiovascular Research

Interstitial fluid, extracellular matrix and tissue microenvironment form the foundations for our research.

  • Small images:
    Craniofacial Development Biology

Organ formation is a complex process controlled by reciprocal signaling interactions between cell types of different origin. Interacting cells are organized into various three-dimensional structures with different tissue and organ specific cells.

    Matrix Biology

The matrix biology groups investigates mechanisms of cell adhesion to collagen and the importance of proteoglycan synthesis for cellular function.

  • Small images:
    Neural Networks Research Group

The Neural Networks Research Group conduct basic and translational research within the areas of neurobiological research with an emphasis on structure and function of neurons, networks and systems.

    Neuroscience Research Group

Basic and translational research in the field of neurophysiology, molecular neuroscience and neuroimaging.

  • Small images:
    Neurotargeting Research Group

Advances in molecular neurobiology now provide possibilities for the development of new therapies designed for treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.

  • Small images:
    Translational Cancer Research

Research within the formation of cancer tumors and which cellular mechanisms that controls the development of cancer.

  • Small images:
    The Translational Signaling Group

Research of signaltransduction and it's effect on genetranscription, viability of cells and dynamical cellstructures.
