The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in experimental animals is measured using classical indicators like 51Cr-EDTA and creatinine. The intracortical distribution of GFR before and after an experimentally induced perturbation is estimated by measuring renal accumulation of differently labelled aprotinin following repeated intravenous injections.
