Open Access
Researchers and students at the University of Bergen can make their scientific publications available through Open Access, using UoB's research archive or open publication.
The Bergen University Library is working to make public research from researchers and students through UoB's open research archives Bergen Open Research Archive (BORA). We also offer support for open publication, under the administration of the budget for Open Access-publishing at the UoB, and by running a support function for open, electronic journals, Bergen Open Access Publishing (BOAP).
Open Access entails that all scientific publications are free, immediately and permanently available online. The author or originator retains the publication rights, but gives the user permission to read, download, copy, distribute, search in, or link to the text without compensation.
One of the most frequently used definitions of Open Access may be found here: http://openaccess.mpg.de/286432/Berlin-Declaration
