Textpander

Textpander make you type more efficient by inserting predefined text snippets on the fly whenever you enter their corresponding abbreviations. It is not an editor. [via, where 10 other nice applications are listed too]

Update: I'm now using this a lot. It works with all typing (Emacs, forms, ...) and for me it has replaced the great iClip tool that I used a lot. The signature of this blog entry (html code) is inserted by typing only "bbsig".

Update: Textpander was acquired by SmileOnMyMac and is now rerelased as TextExpander. It goes from free to $30. Some new features and if you donated when it was donation-ware, you'll receive a free license. [via]

Update: RapidoWrite is an alternative to TextExpander (it is free). [via]
