I am associate professor (forsteamanuensis) in mathematics at Narvik University College. I have a Master
degree (civilingenjor) in computer science (specialization in mathematics) from 1996, a licentiate degree from 1999 and a doctoral degree in mathematics from 2002, all acheived at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden.
Research
My main research interests are in the fields of homogenization of partial differential equations
and integral functionals. I am interested in topics such as functional analysis, convergence of operators, bounds and inequalities,
as well as computation and simulation of effective properties of composite materials and periodic structures. A brief description of homogenization can be
found in the introduction
of my doctoral thesis. I am member of the research group in homogenization at HIN, lead by professor Dag Lukkassen. Here is a full list of my scientific publications.

Teaching
During the 2005-2006 semester I am teaching courses in physics FHO9027, basic mathematics LMN1001, calculus LMN1002, dynamical and statical systems STE6226, composite mechanics STE6222 and computational project STE6276. In addition, I am supervisor for two final degree projects on the master program in Engineering design. I am also one of the organizers of a course in geometry in Archangelsk, Russia, for students from Narvik University College, Lulea University of Technology and Pomor State University, Archangelsk..
Other activities
I am also part-time employed as researcher by the research institute Norut Teknologi where I do research in the field of construction technology. Currently I am developing a web course in applied mathematics
that is intended for working engineers and secondary school teachers. I am also very interested in international contacts, in particular with countries in the Barents region.
I am together with Dr. Gunnar Söderbacka leading an exchange program with universities in north-west Russia,
supported by the Swedish Institute. I was also a member of the local organizing committee for the
2004 Midnight Sun Narvik Conference in homogenization.
