TITAN computing resources are physically located at the USIT machine room at the Informatics building, University of Oslo, Norway

Currently, we have three types of compute nodes in Titan.

• Sun Fire x2200m2
• Sun Fire x6220
• Sun Fire x4200

Note that at present, we do not use the x4200 node type as a "compute node" per se, but rather as login nodes. They are, however, decendants of the "compute" node in the XML tree that ROCKS uses to generate configuration files.

SUN Blade computing nodes

Sun Fire X6220

• 2 x 2.6 GHz dual core CPUs, 95W AMD Opteron
• 1 MB Level 2 cache per core
• X16 HyperTransport 8 GB/s (Processor to South Bridge) X16 HyperTransport 8 GB/s (CPU-0 to CPU-1)
• 8 DIMM memory slots per processor
• 16 DIMM memory slots total system Registered DDR2/667 ECC DIMMs (128 bit plus ECC databus)
• 16GB memory installed per node, max is 64 GB
• Integrated 1000Base-T Ethernet ports
• InfiniBand
• Two 250GB 7200 rpm SATA II interface in each node

The SUN X6220 nodes is upgraded to quad core 2008Q2

SUN 1u computing nodes

TITAN consists of 448 X2200 nodes.

Sun Fire X2200 M2

• 2 x 2.6 GHz dual core CPUs, 95W AMD Opteron
• 1 MB Level 2 cache per core
• X16 HyperTransport 8 GB/s (Processor to South Bridge) X16 HyperTransport 8 GB/s (CPU-0 to CPU-1)
• 8 DIMM memory slots per processor
• 16 DIMM memory slots total system Registered DDR2/667 ECC DIMMs (128 bit plus ECC databus)
• 8-32GB memory installed per node, max is 64 GB
• Four Integrated 1000Base-T Ethernet ports
• Two 250GB or 500GB 7200 rpm SATA II interface in each node

The SUN X2200 nodes is upgraded to quad core 2008Q2

DELL 1u 1425SC computing nodes

The number of 1425 nodes in TITAN is around 180 but steadily decreasing as new equipment is replacing the DELL nodes.

The DELL SE1425 compute nodes is being phased out 2008Q2

• 2 x 3.4 GHz Intel Xeon
• 1 MB Level 2 cache per CPU
• 800 MHz FSB
• Intel E7520 chipset
• 6 DIMM memory slots
• 2-4GB memory installed per node
• Two Integrated 1000Base-T Ethernet ports
• Two 80GB 7200 rpm IDE interface in each node

The DELL nodes will be phased out of TITAN summer 2008

Sun Fire x4200

Features:

• 2U cabinet, AMD based motherboard with dual Socket F, quad hotplug SAS drives
• 2x Broadcomm GigE NICs
• 2x Nvidia GigE NICs
• Embedded Lights-Out Managment, aka LOM / eLOM
  • x4200 nodes have remote management availiable on http://servername-lc.local
