The NorStore storage facility should run a list of requirements:

sshd - for up and download
The sshd enables copying of data by way of scp, rsync over ssh and shttp from all types of clients.
ssh based protocols are ssl based and will crypt the data being transferred.
Preliminary tests performed shows that a standard, a couple of year old PC is able to encrypt at least 250Mbit/s, this is equal to 1/4 of a 10Gbit line. Modern PCs with 4+ cores should have no problems transferring the equal to 10Gbit if running i.e. 4 rsync over ssh simultaneously.
shttpd - for up and download

gridftpd - for up and download

httpd - for data download
http will be used in several configurations. It might be used to present the user for a Web interface to the file tree and it will be used to host applications that do both data downloads and data uploads (see httpd applications).
