Norstore:WAN-test
From Vd
The WAN network speeds must be tested:
- LAN 1 thread ssl-bandwith: How much data are we able to get through one thread? Tests performed on a back-to-back connection between two 10Gbit machines.
- LAN multiple thread ssl-bandwith: What is the optimal number of ssh-threads needed to fill the 10Gbit connection? Tests performed on a back-to-back connection between two 10Gbit machines.
- WAN initial bandwith: How much data do we get Oslo->Trondheim on the 10Gbit line? Tests performed with 1 x scp of large file
- WAN optimized bandwith: How much data do we get Oslo->Trondheim on the 10Gbit line after tuning? Tests performed with X x scp of large file
| Test # | Schenario | Status | Expected result | Actual result | Date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | 1 | scp | We get a quite high throughput number | ||
| 2. | 2 | scp | We find out number of threads needed to fill a 10Gbit line with crypted data - alternatively the max number of Mbit possible to generate and send from a single I/O host | ||
| 3. | 3 | scp | We get quite low throughput (# KB) due to small MTU | ||
| 4. | 4 | scp | We get quite high throughput (# MB) due to larger MTU | ||
