Pathscale compiler
Pathscale compiler web page The pathscale compiler is at present the default fortran compiler. The executable binaries are installed at /site/pathscale/bin and the different programs that is most commonly used are : pathf90, path95, pathcc and pathCC. The associated libraries can be found at /site/pathscale/lib/3.0/.
Compiler flags
The most common compiler flags are :
- -c just compile, do not attempt linking
- -O2 Turn on extensive optimization. This is the default.
- -O3 Turn on aggressive optimization.
- -Ofast Equivalent to -O3 -ipa -OPT:Ofast -fno-math-errno -ffast-math. The ipa does not always work.
- -march=opteron (however, the default is to read it from /proc/cpuinfo)
- -w Suppress all warnings
Normally the Pathsclae fortran compiler generate fairly efficient code with just the standard compiler flags like -O2 etc. For more information refer to man pathf90 etc, or the manual found at the pathscale web page or the user guide at /site/pathscale/share/doc/pathscale-compilers-3.0/UserGuide.pdf on titan.
The Pathscale fortran compilers add a single underscore "_" to symbols. The nm utility can be used to list the symbols in an object file.
