Connecting to Progdist using WinNT/2000/XP/2003
Progdist is the name of NTNU's program distribution server. Both students and employees can use it to download software which is free or licensed by NTNU.
To get access to this service you either have to be on the NTNU network (have an IP-address beginning with 129.241) or use a VPN client.
To connect to this service, first open Explorer. Click "Tools" in the toolbar. Then choose "Map network drive...". When the window pops up, you have to choose which drive letter you want to assign to Progdist, for instance "Z". Then enter the path "\\progdist.ntnu.no\progdist" as in the picture:
If you want the network drive to automatically get connected the next time you log onto the computer, make sure the box "Reconnect at logon" is checked. Now you have to choose "Connect using a different username" and enter "win-ntnu-no\username", where username is your username on the NTNU computer systems. In the password field you enter your normal password. Now the window should look like this:
Click "OK" and "Finish". After a few seconds the drive should be connected.
