VPN - Virtual Private Network
Generally
A VPN client perform as a safe tunnel/transport channel between your maschine and a VPN concentrator inside the NTNU network. This means that all traffic from your machine will pass through this safe tunnel. Because of the pass through it looks as if your machine is the VPN-concentrator, which makes it possible for you to access NTNU's internal resources (like your home area and bibsys). The information passing through this safe tunnel is encrypted, so that it can not be read by others sniffing traffic.

For Windows, Linux and Mac there are today only one client, Ciscos VPN client which works. You'll need a username/password for downloading the client: vpn/klient.
