Numerical flow calculations

Numerical simulation of flow processes and –phenomena have become an important part in development, dimensioning, design and operation of different energy- and process-stations. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) has become a well established tool.

The CFD activity in our section includes both development of new numerical algorithms for solutions, methods for discretisation, grid generation, boundary conditions, the flow simulations and the following post processing and analysis of the results.

Normally mean flow calculations (which most likely will become the Norwegian standard) are done with semi-empirical turbulence models.

Turbulence modeling is important in CFD. Direct and Large-Eddy simulations are used in studies of the physics in turbulence.
