Value chain analysis may offer us with vital information on how transport of energy influences cost and the environment. It is a methodology for comparing options, for example how to transport the energy content of natural gas (pipe-line, LNG, CNG, hydrates, as electricity). Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is used to find the real cost and environmental strain a product or a service implies. An example is a car, that does not only have environmental impact when driving, but also when producing the materials and the components it consists of (metals, plastics, wood). The impact of scrapping of a product, alternatively recycling parts of it, is also an important aspect of LCA.
