Research activity at the Department of Geography

Geography is a broad and complex subject field. Most of the research focuses on either human geography or physical geography, but it also includes approaches to problems of a more general nature relating to the descipline. Geography has a broad interface with other disciplines and with more profession-oriented fields, such as architecture, planning, etc. The Department attempts to provide a broad introduction to the discipline at undergraduate level, while at graduate level, the focus is on those fields in which the Geography Department has developed research competence.

The Geography Department’s main areas of focus are:

Landscape
Urban, Rural and Regional Studies
Health and Welfare
Development and Social Change in the South
GIS
Physical Geography
