The board is NHH's highest management unit and the Rector is both the most senior representative of the faculty and chairman of the board. The Rector is elected for a period of three years, with the opportunity to stand for re-election.
The faculty resources of the school are organised in five departments: Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law, Department of Economics, Department of Finance and Management Science, Department of Strategy and Management and the Department of Professional and Intercultural Communication.
The committees Programutvalget for grunnstudier (PGS - academic programme committee for Bachelor level studies) , Programutvalget for videregående studier (PVS - academic programme committee for Master level studies) and Programutvalget for forskning og doktorgradsutdanning (PFD - academic programme committee for research and PhD level studies) have responsibility for overseeing the delivery of study programmes and research, while the Internationalt Utvalg (IU - international Committee) is responsible for overseeing NHH's international relations and profile.
The academic structure of the school is illustrated below.

The Managing Director has day-to-day responsibility for the administrative activities at NHH and also acts as the secretary to the board, with responsibility for preparing matters of discussion for the board and advising the board with regard to these matters.
