Meteorology

In this case study we investigate how scientific visualizations, as an integrated part of the scientific discipline and the knowledge domain, are used in meteorology. In this way we explore how ICT and computation changes the conditions for learning within a discipline. In particular we focus on how such scientific visualizations make complex models visible and learnable for students. With this backdrop we ask the following preliminary research question:

• What are the practical and concrete conditions for learning with scientific visualizations in higher education of meteorology?
• How is scientific visualization integrated into educational activities in meteorology?
