Topics in the Structure of Bantu

Join us for a week studying issues in the structure of Bantu, under the careful tutelage of Larry Hyman (UC Berkeley) and Marianna Visser (U Stellenbosch).

The syntax part of the course, taught by Professor Visser, will take up important issues in the argument structure of Bantu languages, among other topics. It will consist of one two-hour meeting each day for five days. See below for details.

The phonology part of the course, taught by Professor Hyman, will explore important issues in the phonology of Bantu languages, including some discussion of its interaction with the morphology. It will meet for two hours each day for five days. See below for details.
