Self-financing Master’s Degree students
Self-financing Master’s degree students are students applying for English Master’s Degree Programmes without Quota or NORAD sponsorship. Students may apply from all over the world, Norway included.

Exchange students
Exchange students are students from institutions having exchange agreements with the University of Tromsø. The students are selected by their home university and usually come to UiT for a period of 3-12 months. Many of the exchange agreements are within Erasmus, Nordplus, North2North and Barentsplus programmes. Erasmus programme plays a crucial role in our students exchange and most of our international students are Erasmus students. University of Tromso has recently applied for Erasmus University Charter for the period 2007-2013 and we hope to participate in LLP/Erasmus programme from the next academic year. However, if your university does not have any agreement with UiT and you have not been qualified within the exchange programmes mentioned above, you cannot apply to UiT as exchange student. Please, consider other options and read information for other student categories.

Self-financing free-movers
Self-financing free-movers are students applying from abroad and can be admitted to singular courses taught in English. The students have to apply every semester and can be registered maksimum for the total of two semesters.
