The Master’s Programme in Physics Electrical engineering
| Master and diploma projects |
| Students who plan to start on a project in the autumn must contact the staff of the EE-group no later than during the spring-term. Around 1st May the EE-group will suggest projects for the autumn term, and the students must make a choice by 1st June. If several students
choose the same project, the projects will be attributed by the staff. |

The educational aims and academic content of Electrical engineering:
The Group for Electrical engineering pursue technologically oriented research within the fields of digital signal- and image-processing, physical electronics and measurement techniques. Understanding of fundamental physics is applied in areas of high technology. In particular projects within the physics of semiconductors, photonics, neural networks, adaptive signal processing and statistical methods in signal- and image-processing.
Several of these projects are within information- and communications technology.
Discipline oriented master’s projects are available within the group’s research projects. Such projects can be purely experimental or of a more theoretical character with advanced numerical simulations. In addition to the master’s project itself the programme consists of courses at 2000- and 3000-level equivalent to 60 course credits. Half of the subjects are taken by means of special reading appropriate to the individual topic and a number of advanced special subjects are available. The Group has a strong international background and good contacts with other Norwegian and foreign research institutions.
Please contact Professors Torbjørn Eltoft, Alfred Hanssen, Svein Jacobesen, Frank Jacobsen, Frank Melandsø or Associate Professor Olav Gaute Hellesø.
Compulsory courses:
It is strongly recommended that the student take FYS-2009 during the bachelor programme.
Special Reading:
We refer the student to the RETNINGSFAGSEMNER in the 5-year master’s programme in Electrical engineering.
As elective physics subjects in the bachelor’s programme the following are recommended:
