Readiness manual for UiT
A word file of the manual (in Norwegian) is available here.
In order to manage an emergency at UiT, we must have a clear relationship with readiness and crisis management. Key elements in crisis management are among others responsibility of the leadership, understanding the different roles of the involved, contact with the family and managing the information. The readiness manual deals with these elements and provides an aid to react efficiently in critical and pressing situations.
It is not always possible to avoid all risks or our own vulnerability towards risks. There will always be the potential for crises of different kind. To reduce this potential, all units at the University of Tromsø should, based on risk evaluations, work to reduce the probability that undesired events or crises will arise and work to reduce the consequences of such events.
The readiness manual must be seen in context with the manual for systematical Health, Safety and Environment work (HSE-manual). Each unit has a HSE-manual which describes how the unit deals systematically with health, safety and environment. The manual is a practical tool for leadership and the employees, such that the unit has an overview over and continuity in the local HSE-work. All employees are obliged to make themselves familiar with the HSE-manual.
Chapter 1 deals with emergency reporting lists to universities internal and external parties that need to be warned in case of accident.
Chapter 2 deals with guidelines to deal with crises at UiT. It describes the general routines for warning during and outside working hours, when central or local action plans should be carried out, with action plans for the central readiness action group and with follow-up details.
Chapter 3 contains summaries of the local readiness action plans
Chapter 4 contains various routines and guidelines which are important for the whole university community.
