All employees at the University of Tromsø are offered the services of the employees’ health service. The purpose of this is to prevent illness and injuries related to the working situation and to increase well-being and productivity in the working environment.
Consults
If you have problems with your health and you feel these can be work related, you can contact the employees’ health service for a consult. The service also provides immediate help in case of accidents that are work related.
Purposeful health examinations
The employees’ health service contacts employees who are especially exposed to health risks to goal oriented health examinations. (Health risks could be: noise, asbestos, cytostatica, narcotic gasses, etc ...)
Visit to working place
As an initiative of the service, safety representatives or employees will on request get a visit of the employees’ health service for guidance of individuals or groups. This guidance could be of a chemical, physical, ergonomical, social or organisational nature. The employees’ health service could also advice in connection with planning of building, rebuilding or reorganisation of the working space.
Safety checks
The employees’ health service wishes to take part in safety check rounds. The initiative for these has to come from the organisation itself. The employees’ health service can advice in working out and revise internal control systems.
AMU, rehabilitation
The employees’ health service is represented in AMU (Work Environment Committee) and rehabilitation inside the company/University. If necessary the employees’ health service can also take part in other committees such as sick leave groups.
Education/courses
The employees’ health service instructs in themes related to ealth, safety and environment. Examples are: neck- and back-school, physical training during the break, training principles, ergonomics, first aid, psycholsocial/organisational problems, chemical health-risks, indoor climate, noise, use of safety equipment, stopping with smoking, etc. The employees’ health service can adapt other instruction programs according to needs and wishes.
Vow of silence
The employees’ health service has a vow of silence, both about personal relationships and on internal relationships at the University of Tromsø.
