Advanced User Support
Advanced User Support is special support towards application level, which may be more complicated and take more time to solve than ordinary user support. The time to solve these problems can take up to hundreds of hours per project.
The purpose of this service is to contribute to increase the utility value of the services and resources that are offered to the users of the NOTUR facility. This can for instance be done through:
- Optimize codes and programs
- Port the program to more cost-effective platforms
- More easy-to-use codes and services
The Advanced User Support Service can be used both by new user groups that want help to scale up their codes and calculations to hpc level, as well as projects that have been in the hpc system for a while and want to optimize their programs.
Projects that potentially may have an increase of resource use in the future, or collaborate with other projects will be preferred. Increase of resource use can be increase of CPU-hours, storage or input/ output. In order to get Advanced User Support, the project/ user group itself has to participate in the work so that it becomes a collaboration between you and us. We especially want to help make solutions that lower the threshold of using the NOTUR resources in a more efficient way.
We encourage interested projects/ user groups to apply for Advanced User Support. The application must be send by the project leader, and should give answer to the following questions:
- What software are you using?
- What do you want to do with your code?
- Why does your project want help by Advanced User Support?
- What do you want to achieve and is this realistic?
- How many hours Advanced User Support do you need, approximately?
- Will your code be used in the future?
- Do you collaborate with other user groups/ projects?
- Where is your code being executed now, and what other platforms does it work on?
- Who from your user group/ project will participate in the work with optimize your code?
- Any other arguments that may effect your application?
Send your application to The HPC Group at UiT. Your application will be evaluated by NOTUR.
