Bachelor degree programmes
The Faculty of Science is offering seven different bachelor degree programmes. The degrees will qualify students for employment or further study in their field of endeavour.
In order to achieve bachelor degree status the student must either follow one of the predetermined three-year study programmes which the faculty has already set up or choose for themselves a range of courses which satisfy the requirements of the University of Tromsø with regard to the grade of bachelor. The predetermined programmes of study consist of both obligatory and elective courses with the relative proportions of such courses varying from program to program. Each of the degree programmes require that students take between 80 and 90 credits in their major subject.
The bachelor degree can be developed into a master’s degree and all of the seven degree programs offer the opportunity to follow a two-year masters program upon completion of the bachelor degree.
The cut-off date for applicants for university admission for students that have matriculated or have other equivalent academic university admission qualifications is 15th April (1st March for special applicant categories).
Other than matriculation there are no special requirements for admission to the bachelor programmes. However the design of these degree programmes does assume that the applicant has previous education equivalent to the final two years at High School in the subjects that these programmes offer. Applicants should be aware that these courses are mainly taught in Norwegian.
