The bachelor degree programme in chemistry
Synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, structural chemistry, electrochemistry, forensic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, geochemistry, physiological chemistry and theoretical chemistry. Chemistry is both complex and comprehensive.
A thorough knowledge of chemistry is vital for the development of society in very many areas such as medicine, pharmacy, modern farming, the oil industry, transport, criminology, environmental work and energy supply.
The Bachelor programme’s main objective is to give the student a broad competence in the subject that can form the basis of further studies in chemistry. The programme is also intended to provide a basic knowledge of other subjects such as mathematics, physics and/or biology. Chemistry is chiefly a practical subject and therefore great weight is laid on the development of practical, independent laboratory skills.
Programme structure diagramme/ contents:
MAT-1001 Calculus I is compulsory on this programme, however we recommend strongly that you take MAT-0001 User-course in mathematics in the first semester in the event that you do not have the equivalent to final year mathematics from high school. In that event Calculus I will taken later in the programme, ideally in the third semester.
In the second semester one must take all told 20 course credits in biology, physics and/or biology along side KJE-1002. In the third semester one must take a 10 course credit subject in biology, physics or mathematics in company with KJE-1003 and KJE-1004.
For further description of contents and evaluation, see individual course descriptions.
