PhD studies at the Faculty of Science
The organised research training at the Faculty of Science consists of:
A PhD-study without spesialization, which leads to the degree PhD in Science. This study includes also the PhD School in Arctic Marine Geology and Geophysics
The PhD-school in Molecular and Structural Biology which is an interfaculty initiative in cooperation with the Medical Faculty. The study leads to a degree PhD in Molecular and Structural Biology.
The PhD-programme has a length of 3 years, 180 credits.
In addition, the Faculty of Science offers the degree Dr.Philos. The faculty assumes that Dr.Philos. - degree will be used only by students who lack the opportunity to take part in the organised research training programme. The two degrees are regarded as equal.
Students who are admitted to the Dr.Scient. study should follow the rules for that degree programme. The faculty has set the following deadline for submission of Dr. Scient. thesis: 15. December 2007. The last date for awarding the Dr. Scient. Degree is 30. June 2008.
