Objectives and content
A master's degree in statistics will give the student a fundamental knowledge of statistical concepts, principles and methods. The master's program ends with a research project over two semesters.
This project should be adapted to the students interests and skills, and be within the research fields of the institute.
The table above is an example of a program in statistics. The program will be adjusted to the content of the individual student’s bachelor's degree. A master's degree in statistics requires an interest in mathematical thinking and comprises studies of statistical methods and probability theory. An applied statistician ought to have interest in and knowledge of the field where the statistical theory is applied. Master theses are offered in the fields of imaging, environmental statistics, scale-space-techniques and survival analysis.
If you are interested, contact professor Fred Godtliebsen, associate prof. Sigrunn Sørbye, associate prof. Georg Elvebakk, assistant prof. Elinor Ytterstad or assistant prof Edvin Bredrup.
