Autumn | Contents
An introduction to metric spaces, inner product spaces and Hilbert spaces. Covers metrics, completeness and compactness, the Banach fixpoint theorem, linear functionals and operators, Hermitian operators, spectrum, orthogonal expansions, Green's functions and Sturm-Liouville problems. The prerequisites are MAT-1002 Calculus 2 and MAT-1004 Linear algebra. | Recommended previous qualifications

Lectures: 40 h Coursework: 30 h, a passing grade is requried on up to 6 mandatory homework sets for permission to take the exame. | Coursework requirements
