Main Objects:
We have limited knowledge regarding the prevalence and molecular epidemiology of extended spectrum betalactamase (ESBL)-producing clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae in Norway. Our main objectives are to: (i) Evaluate methods to detect and verify ESBL-production in Norwegian clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae. (ii) Fenotypic and genotypic characterization of Norwegian clinical isolates of ESBL-producing E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae and their molecular epidemiology.
