Courses by DMV
Department of Microbiology and Virology is responsible for nine basic molecular biology and microbiology courses for undergraduate and graduate students in biology as well as the medical microbiology curriculum in health care studies (medicine, pharmacy and dentistry).
The Department is responsible for teaching/organizing the courses BIO-1001, BIO-3134, BIO-3302, BIO-3312, BIO-3313, BIO-3314, BIO-3315, BIO-3316 and Molecular and Clinical Aspects of Cancer. These courses will give the student an introduction to basic genetics and cellular processes such as replication, transcription and translation (BIO-1001), to more advanced molecular biology in both, viruses (BIO-3315), prokaryotic (BIO-3313, BIO-3316), and eukaryotic (BIO-3302) organisms.
The medical aspect of microbiology is the curriculum of BIO-3314. BIO-3312 is a specialized course in mammalian cell culture techniques while BIO-3134 is an advanced course in molecular genetics. More information about each course is found at the following web sites.
