SEMUT carries out different kinds of activities in order to accomplish the goals stated in its Mandate.
Networking with Universities in non-industrializied countries is encouraged and performed allowing the establishement of jointly research and capacity building projects within the NUFU scheme.
The Center encourages research in topics related to development and environment performed by higher degree students, researchers and/or units based at the University of Tromsø, at the NORUT-group, and at Colleges and University Colleges of Northern Norway.
The Center is also the Secretariat for the International Seminar, an umbrella-type organization for 20 organizations that arranges seminars regarding international issues.
