The master¿s dissertation is an important part of the programme and consists of 50 credits. The main part of the work is to be done during the third and forth semester, but IST regards it as very important that the work on the dissertation starts as early as the first semester.
The thesis should consist of approximately 17.000 to 25.000 words (50-75 pages), but should not exceed 25.000 words.
The master¿s dissertation is to be done as a single research project, and can either be a discussion of a problem based on studies of relevant literature, or an analysis of a topic with basis in collected data. The thesis can be done individually or in groups of 2 persons.
At the end there will be an oral examination, under which the student will be asked questions connected to the thesis. Candidates who have written the thesis as a group will do the oral exam together as well.
The master¿s degree dissertation is to be delivered on a specified date every semester:
Spring semester: May 15
Autumn semester: November 1
