Bachelor’s Programme in Health Administration

Facts

Career opportunities
  • Administration in the health service
  • Media Management and administration
  • Planning and public information.
Hospitals and other health institutions have a budget on the size of large private companies, but desperately lacks leaders that have knowledge on health related issues as well as economic and administrative competence. The bachelor’s programme in health administration is both innovating and exciting. It is inter-disciplinary and has its basis in four different disciplines: medicine, ethics, economics and administration.

You learn physiology, anatomy and get broad knowledge on diseases. You’ll learn about disease dispersion and extension, and how diseases can be prevented. You’ll be introduced to the most important traditions of contemporary ethics and you’ll achieve understanding for the basic ethical challenges in medicine and care.

From the study of economics you’ll learn market theory and why health services should not be left to the market. As administration and management require understanding for budget and accounting, you also learn micro economics. The health services are politically governed, therefore you need to learn about public policy and administration. From organization theory you learn to analyse modern organizations, as well as change and management. The study gives qualifications to admission to the master’s programme in public health. By changing the course composition you can also qualify for a master’s programme in political science.
