VCS is a scientific, communicative and educational programme given by the Social Faculty at the University of Tromsø. The programme emphasises film as an imperative tool in gaining access to knowledge relevant to researchers involved with the humanities and social sciences. Students and researchers working with different social groups and diverse societies film every-day events. The filmed material is then used as a starting point for discussions between scientists, students and subject. Through these discussions and debates, the students discover whether their opinions are compatible and meaningful in accordance with their subjects' perspectives and tasks
