About CMU

The Computational Mathematics Unit started its activities in January 2003. The main focus is initially on the modeling of flow around industrial structures in the ocean. Particular topics include
  • studies of topographical effects on waves and flow around the shelf break
  • establishing models with high spatial resolution for selected areas
  • idealized studies of processes that cause extreme velocities
  • establishing reliable statistics for the flow in selected areas

Ormen Lange topography
The topography around the Ormen Lange gas field

The activity builds to a large extent on previous activities around the main tool of the group, the Bergen Ocean Model. The first version of this model was developed around 1995 and has evolved continuously since then.

Recent activities
