InterMedia researchers have contributed to
Ambivalence Towards Convergence. Digitalization and Media Change
Editors: Tanja Storsul, Dagny Stuedahl
Concepts of convergence and converging processes have triggered considerable attention and activities in media research during recent years. This has been an inspiring context for the discussions and analyses presented in this book.
The book elucidates a variety of understandings related to the concept of convergence, and at the same time reflects on the analytical advantage of the concept. The contributions discuss the impact of media digitalization and the degree to which the prospects of convergence have been realized. The studies range from investigations of institutional and regulatory change within media and cultural institutions, to analyses of communicative genres and social practices related to digital media.

Trond Eiliv Hauge & Andreas Lund: Undervisning i endring - IKT, aktivitiet, design
The book addresses the role of technologies, the relationship between individual and collective learning, the role of the teacher, and how we can design for productive learning. The purpose of this book is to connect emergent educational practices with a sociocultural perspective on learning and teaching. Through a series of case studies this book seeks to first analyze various aspects of classroom practices and then moves on to discuss how such analysis can inform teachers' designs for learning. The focus is on classroom activities more than pedagogy or didactics in general.

Grenseflater - exploring how technology opens up new arenas for learning
Oct. 12th - Nov. 18th, 2007, Gallery Sverdrup
Tapet is an interactive installation where landscape, sound, a mediated performance and programmed logic creates a multimodal experience of prescence. The position and movement of the user take part in a spacial, audiovisual interface.
The exhibition also consists of examples of ITUs developmentprojects, and is put on in relation to ITUs 10 year anniversary
The installation is developed by Idunn Sem (idea and design), Martin Havnør (technical design and implementation) and Inger-Reidun Olsen (coreography and dance), and is part of InterMedias MULTIMO project.

Synne Skjulstad: Aesthetics at Work. A multi-disiplinary research project at UiO investigating aesthetication.
In this new anthology Synne Skjulstad looks at clashing conceptions of the Web and how a communication design perspective can transverse such positions. She suggests that we look at websites as a matter of communication design - where form, function and aesthetics are blended in rich web expressions.
Her article is one of seven contributions in Aesthetics at Work (Unipub 2007), that looks at art and aesthetics in contemporary culture.

Network of competence and research for ICT in education.
When it comes to putting ICT in education on the political agenda, ITU has played a crucial part. Their research efforts in this area and networking abilities are significant both nationally and internationally, and has made them an important partner for us at InterMedia.
In his speech at ITU's 10 year anniversary, InterMedia Director, Sten Ludvigsen, congratulated ITU for their contribution in establishing projects and research environments that are now positioning themselves internationally: - Without ITU's modern, topical agenda and financial profile, a lot of these projetcts and environments would never have taken form.
InterMedia congratulates!

Sten Ludvigsen, professor and Director at InterMedia, has been elected Scientific Manager of Kaleidoscope, a Network of Excellence, supported by the European Community.
Kaleidoscope is a research network that brings together leading European teams in technology-enhanced learning. Currently it integrates 90 research units from around Europe, and covers a large range of expertise from technology to education, from academic to private research.
Altogether, it is a community of more than 1000 researchers and PhD-students in 24 countries. Across educational, computer and social sciences they have joined in their efforts to collaboratively develop new concepts and methods for exploring the future of learning with digital technologies.
-For InterMedia the involvement in Kaleidoscope represents a privileged access to both monitoring and influence in this field of European research, says Sten Ludvigsen.
-It has also contributed to the internationalization of our research education, to realizations of international research projects, to cooperation in technological infrastructure for research and to a strengthened relation between theory development and design of new technology for learning.
The appointment of Sten Ludvigsen is also important to the University of Oslo, says Ingrid Sogner, senior adviser at the EU-office. - It makes the University of Oslo visible. And it represents a significant contribution to fulfill an important ambition of the University; to lift it's internationally acknowledged research communities to even more central positions in European research and programs.
As scientific manager of Kaleidoscope, Sten Ludvigsen will be in charge of leading the activities of the network. This means that he will have a prominent role in supporting the community effort to shape a vision of its future scientifically and institutionally, and the high responsibility of "driving" the network toward a sustainable and productive organization.
Read interview with Sten and learn more about Kaleidoscope on the Kaleidoscope website. See also the Kaleidoscope press release and interview with Sten in Uniforum, the University of Oslo's newspaper (in Norwegian).
